This thesis serves as a part of the graduate degree examination of Dimitris Melekos, and was presented at the School of Architecture of the Democritus University of Thrace in July of 2020.

The theme of the thesis was the study and analysis of the historical phases and evolution of the settlement of the town of Chios spanning the age of antiquity until the modern times. In the second part of the thesis the focus shifts mainly to the Fortress of Chios, which serves as an important element of the architectural legacy of the island of Chios.
